The heartbreak that breaks you. But also breaks you open. Open to experience the vastness of life. Because after experiencing the depth of love, there’s so much beauty in experiencing the vastness of new places, new faces, new phases. New phases that challenge you to grow self-esteem so high, that you’re humble.
The one that shows you vulnerability, but you’re emotionally unavailable for. They do all the right things, and ask all the right questions. But you’re so guarded and you don’t even see it in real time. You will though, after this passes.
The one that brings levity. Maybe it’s a travel buddy, maybe it’s a hiking buddy, maybe it’s just somebody. Somebody that keeps it fun, keeps it light. You’re vibing and enjoying one another’s company. It takes its course, and that’s all it simply is.
The one that could have been. Could have been something more. But it just couldn’t take off. Whether it was a mismatch in timing, or mismatch in capacity or interest — you may never know. These fleeting, but meaningful connections make you realize that they’re not any less than.
The one that challenges your archetype of what you find attractive. Even if you didn’t think you had a ‘type,’ you had tendencies in the kinds of people you found attractive. Maybe they were tendencies for a race, physique, or something as simple as hair color preference. This person shakes that all up, in the best way possible.
The one you showed unhindered vulnerability to, but they’re so emotionally guarded. You tried to get through to them. You really did. But you realized you deserve someone who’s worked as hard to make themselves emotionally available to explore you, too.
